WEEPING WATER – A banner of puzzle pieces provided a backdrop to Weeping Water’s graduation ceremony Saturday afternoon.
The tapestry showed that Class of 2018 members came together to provide many successful memories for the school district.
A large crowd came to the Weeping Water Activities Center to watch the commencement event. The day included songs, speeches, recognition of honor students, a graduation slide show, presentation of flowers and awarding of diplomas.
Weeping Water Junior/Senior High School Principal Gary Wockenfuss welcomed the audience and presented a certificate of appreciation to foreign-exchange student Wenli Bian. He then recognized seniors who had achieved academic distinction.
Michael Stackpole graduated summa cum laude for achieving a grade point average of 3.98-4.00. Jayden Brammier, Stackpole, Katie Dettmann, Marshall Garner, Jonathon Hansen, Tory Lamkins, Noah May, Brogan McDonald, Kelly Patton and Samantha Thomas were all recognized for being National Honor Society members.
Twelve students were honored with Red Cross Red Cord status. Brammier, Stackpole, Skylar DeSanti, Hansen, Lamkins, Madison March, Rebecca Markham, McDonald, Patton, Thomas, Katrina Thomassen and Kyle West all earned the award.
Stackpole delivered the valedictory address and the high school choir sang “Pacem” and “Land of Our Dreams” for the audience. Seniors then watched a slide show before delivering flowers to family, friends and loved ones. They then walked across the stage to receive their diplomas.
