Donna Mae Biederman
January 25, 1930 - November 30, 2017
PLATTSMOUTH – Donna Mae (Mechem) Biederman, 87, was promoted to life eternal Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017, at home in Plattsmouth, Neb.
Donna was born Jan. 25, 1930, to Ira Edward and Eliza Marie (Petre) Mechem in Sterling, Colo.
She was raised and education in Sterling. Ther highlight of her High School years was playing first flute in the high school and town bands.
Donna met the love of her life, Lloyd E. Biederman, while he was trimming trees at her parent’s home. After a whirlwind romance that included cherry cokes at the five and dime where she worked, they married in Fort Collins, Colo., June 12, 1948.
Not long after they married, Lloyd moved from being a farm worker to a government employee at the Sidney Ordnance Depot in Sidney, Neb., where they lived until the Depot closed in 1965.
In 1965, they reluctantly began a series of moves to different depots: Savannah Army Depot - Hanover, Ill.; Pueblo Army Depot - Pueblo, Colo.; and Sacramento Army Depot, Sacramento, Calif. due to the military downsizing the depot structure.

Ultimately, Lloyd and Donna retired in Sacramento, Calif. where they lived for many happy years together. When Lloyd died after a long illness on Sept. 2, 2002, they had been married 54 years. The longtime wife, mother and housewife continued to live in Sacramento until June 2012 when she moved to Plattsmouth, Neb. to be closer to her children and grandchildren.
A lifelong church member, she became a member of the United Methodist Church, May 20, 1956, in Sidney, Neb., and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Plattsmouth.
Donna is survived by her two sons: Larry Biederman and his wife Elly of Plattsmouth, Neb. and Tom Biederman of Kennesaw, Ga.; sisters-in-law, Ida Lee Biederman of Longmont, Colo. and Yvonne Mechem of Estes Park, Colo.; four grandchildren, Eric and his wife Annaleen Biederman of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Evan and his wife Tracy Biedermen of Ord, Neb., Stacy and her husband Gantt Walker, and Kris and her husband Tony Pickett; and her great grandchildren Noah, Kevin, Nathan, Joe, Lula Ryleigh, and Paetynn Dianeille.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Ira and Eliza Mechem, husband: Lloyd Biederman, sister: Francis Webb, and her three brothers: Guy, Wayne, and Les Mechem.
Her Memorial Service is at 4 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017, at the First United Methodist Church, Plattsmouth, Neb. A lunch will immediately follow in the church basement.
The family suggests memorials to the First United Methodist Church in Plattsmouth.
Her final resting place will be with her husband Lloyd at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery at Santa Nella Village, Calif.
