Kathryn Thoms Hilgenkamp

MYRTLE BEACH – Kathryn Darline Thoms Hilgenkamp, Ed. D., 65, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and formerly from Neb., passed away Jan. 3, 2018. Kathryn was born to LeRoy and Darline (Callaway) Thoms Nov. 5, 1952. She is preceded in death by her father LeRoy Carl Thoms.
Kathryn spent her life giving back and making a positive impact on other lives. She was a beloved mother, an educator, an author, a counselor, a mentor, and a true friend to many. After getting her Doctorate in Education, Kathryn went on to teach at several universities across the country, including the University of Nebraska, Creighton University, Louisiana Tech University, Coastal Carolina University, University of Northern Colorado, Webster University and Capella University. She also built her own counseling business in Myrtle Beach, S.C., called Life Solutions, LLC.
She is survived by her three daughters, Jessica Erin (Matt) Mehrhoff of Lincoln, Neb.; Whitney Jayne Hoffman (Engin) Sayal of Baton Rouge, La.; Devin Corinne Hilgenkamp of Chicago, Ill.; and son, Colton James Hilgenkamp of Prairieville, La.; three grandsons, Rayne Lee Cooper of Baton Rouge, La.; Oliver Pierce LeRouge of Prairieville, La.; and William (Liam) Dean Mehrhoff of Lincoln, Neb.; mother, Darline L. Thoms of Avoca, Neb., and brother, Ronald L. Thoms of Weeping Water, Neb.
To celebrate Kathryn, “A Celebration of Life” Open House will be held at the Historic Wyuka Cemetery in Lincoln, Neb., Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018 from 2-4 p.m.
