Russwin Kelse Helsley

PLATTSMOUTH – Russwin “Russ” Kelse Helsley, 68, of Plattsmouth, Neb., passed away Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, at Bergan Mercy Medical Center, Omaha, Neb.
He was born Feb. 22, 1949, to Harold Lewis and Marjorie Naomi (Fingar) Helsley in Hudson, N.Y.
Russ was raised and schooled in Germantown, N.Y. and he graduated from Germantown High School with the class of 1968. While in high school Russ worked on his family’s orchard, Fingar Farm, and he also worked as a gas station attendant at Baxter Service Station. Russ enlisted in the U.S. Air Force serving four years, then the Nebraska Air National Guard for 18 years. While serving his country, Russ worked as an airplane mechanic. When he was stationed at Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue, Neb., he met Diane Sue Younker and they were later married Sept. 3, 1971, in Omaha. Russ and Diane lived in Omaha for a year, Germantown for a few months, and then Plattsmouth where they made their home and raised their children. Russ had worked as a welder fabricator at Wilson Concrete from 1973 until he retired in 2014.
He is survived by his wife Diana Helsley of Plattsmouth; two sons, Chad Harold Helsley of Plattsmouth, Russwin Dee Helsey and wife Kathy of Plattsmouth; three daughters, Dawn Wilson and husband Mike of Plattsmouth; Stephanie Rhoads and husband Dustin of Plattsmuth and Heather Bare and husband Jeremiah of Belleuve; nine grandchildren, Dakota, Jordon, Brady and Presley Wilson, Russwin Helsley Jr., Aubree Bar, Garret Helsley, Cyndall Bare, and Keaton Rhoads; and brother, Wayne Helsley and wife Kathy of Red Hook, N.Y.; sister, Beth Repko of Aurora, Colo.; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Marjorie Helsley; two sisters, Wanda Drivas and Melody Graziano; father and mother-in-law, Donald and Maxine Younker; and brother-in-law, Ricky Younker.

Visitations was held from 1-9 p.m. with family greeting relatives and friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 9, at Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth.
A funeral service was held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 10 at Roby Funeral Home with Pastor David Haynes officiating.
Pallbearers were Russwin Helsley, Chad Helsley, Jeremiah Bare, Dustin Rhoads, Christopher Younker and Scott Johnson. The Honorary Pallbearers were Mark Younker, Dennis Johnson, Lanny Fisher, Wayne Helsley, Wayne M. Helsley, Scott Repko, Stegve Klawson, Randy Younker and Larry Younker.
The final resting place was at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth.
Military Rites were conducted by the Offutt Air Force Base Military Rites Team of Bellevue.
