PLATTSMOUTH – Plattsmouth’s powerful ground game let the Blue Devils pave their way past Nebraska City Friday night.

PHS reeled off 384 rushing yards in a 46-6 home triumph. Plattsmouth sophomore Connor Pohlmeier led the team’s attack with 223 yards and three touchdowns on 25 carries. Pohlmeier made the most of the offensive line’s work throughout the evening. He averaged 8.9 yards per attempt and had an early touchdown burst of 48 yards. He added scoring runs from the 6-yard line and 11-yard line later in the game.

Wynstyn Martin-Morrison bolstered the team’s ground game with 81 yards and one touchdown on seven carries. Logan Blotzer gained 40 yards on two attempts, Kirkland Haswell had 22 yards and one touchdown on five carries and Oscar Hinton tallied one touchdown and 14 yards on six attempts. Tucker Anderson rounded out Plattsmouth’s rushing department with four yards.

Haswell completed four passes for 45 yards and one touchdown. Luke Setlak made a 28-yard touchdown grab in the second quarter and Hunter Adkins caught three passes for 17 yards. Anthony Long helped the team’s field position during the game with 67 yards on kickoff returns and 48 yards on punt returns.

Long and Anderson both made interceptions and Long and Dylan Mayfield both broke up two passes. Seth Bolte and Austin Hicks each registered sacks and Bolte and Noah Meneses were each in on three tackles for loss. Adkins compiled three solo tackles and Haswell, Mayfield, Hinton, Sam West, Andrew Rathman, Trevor Nielsen, Devin Pfeifer and Kade Hansen all made one solo tackle.

Haswell and Adkins both helped Plattsmouth with their kicking and punting abilities. Haswell averaged 56.5 yards on eight kickoffs and had four touchbacks. He also made four extra-point kicks. Adkins averaged 36.5 yards on two punts. He pinned Nebraska City (0-8) inside the 20-yard line once.

Plattsmouth (2-6) earned its second straight district victory. The Blue Devils will host Platteview (3-5) for the District B-1 title at 7 p.m. Oct. 20. Omaha Gross edged Platteview 9-7 in Friday’s other district contest.
