Four Cass County boys basketball teams competed in subdistrict tournaments Tuesday night at three sites across eastern Nebraska.

Elmwood-Murdock 64, Archbishop Bergan 36

Top-seeded Elmwood-Murdock flexed its scoring muscles against fourth-seeded Archbishop Bergan (11-13) in the middle two periods of their game. E-M embarked on a 22-10 run in the second quarter and a 21-7 spree in the third stanza to win.

The Knights (19-3) advanced to the title game of the Subdistrict C2-2 Tournament. Elmwood-Murdock will face second-seeded Yutan (22-1) at 7 p.m. Thursday at Wahoo High School. Yutan needed a buzzer-beating jumper to edge third-seeded Palmyra 40-38 in the other semifinal.

Nebraska City Lourdes 55, Weeping Water 34

Top-seeded Nebraska City Lourdes stopped fourth-seeded Weeping Water in the semifinals of the Subdistrict D1-3 Tournament. Nebraska City Lourdes (16-8) expanded its 24-9 halftime lead with 22 points in the third quarter.

Weeping Water finished its season 6-18. Jayden Brammier, Marshall Garner, Noah May and Kyle West were the team’s four seniors.

Louisville 69, Conestoga 57

Second-seeded Louisville and third-seeded Conestoga squared off in a fast-paced game at Weeping Water Activities Center. The Lions and Cougars played in the semifinals of the Subdistrict C1-2 Tournament.

Louisville (14-11) gained the upper hand with a quick start on the scoreboard. The team produced a 19-8 run in the first period and maintained its lead the rest of the way.

The Lions will face top-seeded Syracuse (15-9) in the subdistrict championship game. Syracuse and Louisville will play at Weeping Water Activities Center at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Conestoga finished its season 7-17. JeVon Lewis was the team’s lone senior.
