PLATTSMOUTH – Plattsmouth athletes cast their nets for postseason prizes throughout the District B-2 Meet on Thursday.

They hauled a large catch of medals into their track and field boat by the end of the event.

Plattsmouth hosted nine other schools for district action at Blue Devil Stadium. Eight PHS athletes qualified for the state meet and multiple others won team and individual district awards. The Plattsmouth girls finished sixth in team standings with 46 points, and the Plattsmouth boys placed eighth in their team race with 44 points.

Taylor Caba, Chloe Sabatka, Bella Chappell and Taylor Jones earned a trip to Omaha Burke Stadium in the 3,200-meter relay. The Blue Devils finished second in the race in 10:03.10.

Sabatka qualified for state in a pair of individual events. She captured third place in both the 400 meters and triple jump. Caba added a state berth in the 800 with a third-place finish.

Haley Miller collected state tickets in both the triple jump and long jump. She soared to second place in the triple jump and finished eighth in the long jump. Miller automatically qualified in the long jump with a distance of 16-5. All Class B girls who posted minimum marks of 16-4 in their district meets secured automatic state berths.

Sabatka, Miller, Jones, Caba, Chappell, Colleen Rypkema, Kaitie Serkiz, Rachel Widick and Cheyanne Barnard all added medals for Plattsmouth during the day.

Cole Wagner helped the Plattsmouth boys with state berths in two events. Wagner captured second place in the 3,200 and finished third in the 1,600. Stockton Graham qualified for state in the 1,600 with a second-place showing. He posted a personal-best time of 4:41.62.

Hunter Smith printed his name on the list of state qualifiers in the pole vault. He placed second with a personal-best height of 11-6.

C.J. Wiseman, Dakota Minshall, Ian Witherell, Zach Hughes, Stacy Koile, Andrew Rathman, Ethan Warrick, Patrick Dovenbarger and Caleb Davis all chipped in district medals for Plattsmouth.

The Blue Devils will journey to Omaha Burke Stadium for the Class B State Meet May 18-19. Class B action will begin at 9 a.m. May 18 and 8:30 a.m. May 19.
