BEATRICE – Plattsmouth High School students minted multiple medals Saturday during their trip to the Class B State Powerlifting Meet.

The Blue Devils traveled to Beatrice High School for state action in several powerlifting disciplines. Twenty-eight PHS teenagers took part in the largest state meet in Class B powerlifting history. More than 220 students from across Nebraska competed during the day.

Haley Miller and Alyx Curran-Lewis highlighted Plattsmouth’s trip with a pair of state championships. Miller captured first place in the 132-pound weight class and Curran-Lewis generated a state title at 165 pounds. Both Blue Devils became two-time state champions. Miller earned her fourth state medal and Curran-Lewis collected her third state award.

Hailey Montes (165) earned third-place honors and Taylor Jones (132) and Isabel McKim (181) each produced fourth-place medals. Lexi Penke chipped in a fifth-place award at 142 pounds. Jones and Penke each secured their second career state medals.

Sammy Montes (165) and Jesse Benoit (242) each earned second-place honors for the Blue Devils. Kade Parriott (165) and Sean Ballinger (220) each collected third-place medals, and Brayden Zaliauskas (165) and Jacob Davis (242) each brought home fourth-place honors. Jehu Montes (181) secured fifth place in his state weight class.

Kelsy Jones, Brenna Simoens, Anya White, Georgeann Houfek, Rece Baker, Joseph Cole, Ethan Coleman, Cameran Talbot, Logan Blotzer, Jack Plog, Cole Krasser, Levi Flaherty, Luke Wright, Joey Burke and Jacob Thumann also competed for Plattsmouth at state.
