NORFOLK – Louisville speech students collected several rounds of applause Saturday with medal-winning performances in Norfolk.
The Lions competed against more than two dozen schools from across the state at the Norfolk Panther Classic. Louisville placed ninth in the meet with 119 points.
Members of the Oral Interpretation of Drama team captured Louisville’s top honor with a third-place finish in the finals. Casey Mason, Drake Sayre, Maxton Yarnell, Meagan Hay and Michael Rupp advanced to the elite level with their work during the day.
Leandra Rodriguez and Peyton Banks claimed a Duet Acting medal for Louisville, and Sayre, Banks, Hay, Kyle Hapgood and McKenna Jones all earned individual honors for the Lions. Hay, Rodriguez, Jones, Banks and Hapgood also secured bids for the upcoming National Individual Events Tournament of Champions (NIETOC).
