Elizabeth M. “Betty” Dietl

January 25, 1934 – February 4, 2019

Elizabeth M. “Betty” Dietl was born Jan. 25, 1934, to Harold and Laura (Mahoney) Radtke at Magnolia, Iowa. She passed Feb. 4, 2019, at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.

On Nov. 15, 1952, she was married to James R. Dietl at St. Patrick’s Church in Manley, Nebraska. To this union eight children were born: Sandra, Timothy, Kenneth, Cathy, Teresa, Linda, Daniel and Chris.

Betty is survived by their children, Sandra Peter – Plattsmouth, Nebraska, Timothy (Nancy) Dietl – Council Bluffs, Iowa, Kenneth (Jane) Dietl – Council Bluffs, Cathy (Darrell) Jourdan – Bellevue, Nebraska, Teresa (William) Stanberry – Nebraska City, Nebraska, Linda (Steve) Norris – Omaha, Daniel Dietl of Fairbury, Nebraska, Chris (Tim) Faircloth – Beaver Lake, Nebraska.; 19 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Florence Bradley of Gilbert, Arizona; and a brother, Harold Radtke of Plattsmouth.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Laura Radtke; husband, Jim Dietl; two grandsons, Derek J. Stanberry and Sonday Dietl; and son-in-law, Robert Peter.

Betty was a dedicated wife and mother who enjoyed her family tremendously. She filled her time with card playing at the community center, crocheting, sewing and reading.

Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 8, from 1 until 8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 at the Harvey Funeral Home, Plattsmouth. There will be a Rosary at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

The funeral Mass will be Saturday, Feb. 9, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Manley, Nebraska, with Father Thomas Wiedle officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Manley.

Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association.
