Jean Marilee (Peterson) Tata, age 92, was called home on Oct. 18, 2018. Jean died peacefully in her sleep at Adante, a Senior Living Center, in San Antonio, Texas.
Jean was born Sept. 16, 1926, in Arlington. She was the sixth of seven children born to Mabel and Roy Peterson. After high school, Jean moved to Omaha and during World War II worked at the bomber plant. She married Armando Tata on May 25, 1949. Together they lead an active life, raising five children and supporting the Disabled American Veterans. In 1979, they moved to Copper Dollar Cove in Plattsmouth where Mrs. Tata was a devoted Catholic and a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Plattsmouth.
In 2014, Jean returned to Texas for warm weather, family and great grandchildren. There she followed the Huskers, was an avid card player and enjoyed playing and watching golf. Those who knew Jean remember her warm smile, twinkling eyes and keen sense of humor.
She is survived by her daughters and sons, Jennifer and Larry Marreel of Omaha, Tim and Deb Tata of San Antonio, Mary and Allen Ward of Bellevue, Lisa and John Foreman of Troutman, North Carolina, Tony and Roxanne Tata of Deerfield, Illinois; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mabel and Roy; siblings, Myra, Brian, Cletie, Ramah, Gail, Rob Roy; and her husband, Armando.
Rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 12, followed by a Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. at Church of the Holy Spirit in Plattsmouth with Rev. Michael Houlihan officiating and Terry Little as vocalist.
Her Final Resting Place will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Plattsmouth.
