PLATTSMOUTH – Plattsmouth students stepped into softball dugouts this season with a goal of creating diamond-studded achievements in their games.

They left the field for the final time this fall with their names emblazoned in school history books.

Plattsmouth softball coaches announced Oct. 30 that many team members had set school-best marks during the year. The recognition came during Plattsmouth’s annual postseason awards banquet.

The Blue Devils rose to the top of all-time school charts in a pair of team categories. Plattsmouth blasted 19 home runs and had a .384 batting average this year.

Seniors Alyx Curran-Lewis, Adyson Blecke and Haylee Heim all penciled their names on PHS-best lists in multiple categories. Curran-Lewis registered the best defensive percentage of any Plattsmouth outfielder in program history. Her .978 fielding percentage edged the former school-best mark of .974 set by Paige Druskis last year.

Blecke compiled the second-best fielding percentage (.937) of any infielder in Plattsmouth history. Aimee Browne (.978, 2003) is currently first on the all-time list.

Curran-Lewis became Plattsmouth’s all-time leader in single-season hits (49) and runs batted in (38). Shelby Kindelin (47 hits, 2009) and Shelbie Stoll (32 RBI, 2009) had held the former top PHS marks in the categories.

Curran-Lewis finished second in Plattsmouth history in runs scored (34) and total bases (78) in one season. She also ended in third place in season batting average (.476), on-base percentage (.518) and slugging percentage (.757).

Blecke became the school’s all-time leader in runs scored (35), total bases (82) and slugging percentage (.812). Stoll had set the former top PHS mark of 31 runs scored in 2009. Breauna Marcoe had been first on the Plattsmouth slugging percentage charts (.790) since 2015.

Blecke finished second in Plattsmouth history with six home runs this year. Cassie Hoschar (8) holds the all-time single-season mark. Blecke also finished third in runs batted in (31) and tied for third in hits (46).

Heim became Plattsmouth’s all-time leader in on-base percentage this year with a .546 mark. She surpassed Sydni Haugaard’s 2017 effort of .523. Heim tied Blecke for third place in single-season hits with 46 and finished second in season batting average (.484). She nearly eclipsed Carla Hunt’s 1995 batting average of .489.

Plattsmouth ended its campaign 18-15. The Blue Devils finished third in the District B-2 Tournament and won eight of their final 12 games.
