Conestoga basketball players continued their season this week with a pair of games in the East Central Nebraska Conference Tournament.

Freeman 50, Conestoga 21

Sixth-seeded Freeman stopped 11th-seeded Conestoga in the first round of the tournament Saturday afternoon. The Falcons went ahead 15-5 in the first quarter and built a 25-7 lead at the break. The team preserved the double-digit margin in the second half.

Myah Cummings led the Cougars with nine points. Hannah Vogler scored six points, Mati Steckler had three points and Maddy Schwindt posted two points. Jennifer Sedlacek added one point for the team.

Johnson County Central 58, Conestoga 38

Conestoga traveled to tenth-seeded JCC Monday night for a consolation-round contest. The Thunderbirds gained an advantage in the middle two quarters. JCC created a 19-9 scoring spree in the second period and went on a 12-4 run in the third stanza.

Steckler helped the Cougars with 12 points, five rebounds and two steals. Vogler generated 12 points, one rebound and one steal, and Lindee Watson poured in eight points, eight rebounds and one steal.

Sierra Dragoo collected three points, five rebounds and one steal for the Cougars. Sedlacek hauled in five rebounds and made one steal, and Danie Parriott contributed three points and one rebound.
