TECUMSEH – Conestoga basketball players made a trip to Tecumseh Friday night for a pair of varsity games against Johnson County Central.

Johnson County Central 46, Conestoga girls 38

Johnson County Central relied on second-chance opportunities to stop the Cougars. JCC grabbed 15 offensive rebounds in the contest. Zadie Plager snatched four offensive boards and Saylor Rother, Monica Thipphavong and Amber Lowther all had three offensive rebounds.

Lowther led JCC (5-10) with 11 points, six rebounds and two assists. Plager posted four points, five rebounds and four assists and Thipphavong had seven points and five boards.

Hannah Vogler and Myah Cummings each scored nine points for Conestoga (1-14). Cummings added five rebounds, four assists, one steal, one block and one pass deflection, and Vogler chipped in two rebounds, two assists and one steal.

Taylor McClatchey contributed six points, two rebounds, two assists and one pass deflection. Mati Steckler tallied five points, one rebound, one steal and two pass deflections, and Jennifer Sedlacek posted five points, five rebounds and one block.

Sierra Dragoo collected two points, two rebounds and one assist. Maddy Schwindt provided two points and three rebounds, and Olivia Priefert ended the evening with two steals, one assist and one pass deflection.

Johnson County Central 48, Conestoga boys 43

Johnson County Central edged the Cougars in a close contest. Trey Holthus scored 18 points to help the Thunderbirds (7-7) win their third straight game. Tucker Liberty added 11 points and Eli Waring had nine points.

Lane Fox paced Conestoga’s scoring attack with 27 points. Ben Welch (8), Jax Madsen (3), Jaydon Fisher (3) and Koby Vogler (2) helped the team’s offense. The Cougars saw their season mark change to 5-8.
