MEAD – Louisville basketball teams matched up with Mead Friday night in a pair of league contests.

Louisville girls 62, Mead 28

Louisville dominated the Raiders from the opening tip. The Lions went ahead 18-0 in the first quarter and maintained a 34-11 gap at the break. The team erased any thought of a Mead comeback by going on a 19-4 run in the third quarter.

The Lions shot 51 percent from the floor (24-of-47) and made assists on 18 of their baskets. The team also grabbed 30 rebounds, collected 13 steals and posted 12 pass deflections.

Jordan Winkler ended the game with five points, six assists, five steals, three rebounds and two pass deflections. Meagan Mackling poured in 15 points, two steals, one rebound and two pass deflections, and Avery Heard generated seven points, nine rebounds, three assists, two steals, one block and one pass deflection.

Lauryn Kalkowski collected five points, four assists and one rebound for the Lions. Faye Jacobsen tallied 12 points, six rebounds, one assist, one steal and two blocks, and Maia Johnson delivered seven points, two boards, one assist and two pass deflections.

Skyler Pollock scored six points, Juliette Andrews posted one point and two boards and Olivia Zahn made one steal and one pass deflection. McKenzie Norris had two points, one rebound, one assist and one steal, and Lea Kalkowski contributed two points, three rebounds, one assist and one steal.

Jennifer Katz made one steal and one pass deflection and Jaylin Gaston tallied one rebound and one assist. Katie Kerans added defensive work for the team in the game.

Louisville improved its season mark to 14-2. Mead dropped to 6-9.

Mead 28, Louisville boys 27

Mead claimed a victory in a defensive battle. The Raiders led 23-21 at the start of the fourth quarter and held a 26-25 edge with 41 seconds left. Louisville went ahead with 17 seconds to play and tried to keep Mead from gaining a game-winning attempt. The Raiders sank a pair of free throws with 0.7 seconds left to go up on the scoreboard.

Mead (9-4) won for the fourth time in its last five games. Louisville (4-12) held the Raiders to their third-lowest point total of the season.

Quinn Wolcott collected eight points, one rebound and two blocks for the Lions. Brady Geise tallied six points, five rebounds and two steals, and Jaren Powell provided two points, five boards and one steal.

Jaden Maxey posted two points, one rebound, two assists and one steal. Caleb Hrabik poured in four points, two boards, two steals and one assist, and Talon Ball delivered two points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal.

Doug Euans made one steal, Conner Buettner grabbed one rebound and Eric Heard posted one rebound and one assist.
