The Louisville girls enjoyed winning departure times this week by packing suitcases full of scoring success.

The Lions swept a pair of road games over Fort Calhoun and Lincoln Christian. Louisville dominated the Pioneers Tuesday night and edged LCHS by three points in overtime Thursday night. The Lions improved to 13-1.

Louisville 66, Fort Calhoun 24

LHS erased Fort Calhoun’s hopes of pulling off the upset in the second half. Louisville outscored the Pioneers 40-10 after the break to win. Fort Calhoun fell to 1-11.

Louisville’s interior trio of Avery Heard, Faye Jacobsen and Maia Johnson delivered a large portion of the team’s scoring damage. Heard and Jacobsen both posted 14 points and Johnson provided 12 points. They went 18-of-25 from the field in the game.

Heard added five rebounds, five assists, two steals and three pass deflections during the evening. Jacobsen chipped in six rebounds and one steal and Johnson grabbed four rebounds.

Meagan Mackling produced ten points, three assists, two steals, two rebounds and one pass deflection. Lauryn Kalkowski generated three points, four assists, two rebounds, two steals and two pass deflections, and McKenzie Norris tallied two points, three rebounds, one assist, one steal and one pass deflection.

Jordan Winkler collected two points, two assists, two steals, one rebound and one pass deflection. Olivia Zahn had two points, one assist and one pass deflection, and Juliette Andrews produced two points and one pass deflection. Skyler Pollock helped the team with three rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block.

Jaylin Gaston had two points, two rebounds, one steal, one assist and one pass deflection. Lea Kalkowski tallied three points, one rebound and one steal, Katie Kerans had one rebound and Jennifer Katz made one assist.

Louisville 50, Lincoln Christian 47 (OT)

The fourth-ranked Lions took down the sixth-ranked Crusaders in overtime. Louisville won the turnover and free-throw battles by committing just 11 giveaways and making 14 foul shots. Lincoln Christian (7-5) had 22 turnovers and sank 12 free throws.

Heard and Mackling both played key roles in the game’s outcome. Heard pocketed 11 points, eight rebounds, four steals, two assists and four pass deflections. Mackling ended the evening with 14 points, seven steals, two rebounds and five pass deflections.

Winkler pitched in seven points, three assists, three steals and three rebounds. Lauryn Kalkowski provided nine points, four rebounds, two assists and two pass deflections, and Jacobsen secured seven points, three boards, one assist and one steal.

Norris scored two points and Johnson and Zahn both helped the team with their defensive work.

Louisville had been scheduled to host Omaha Skutt Saturday night. The game was postponed due to winter weather conditions. The schools are working on possible makeup dates.
