PLATTSMOUTH – Portions of Friday night’s basketball game between Plattsmouth and Bennington took place on two courts in two buildings in the city.
Bennington was able to travel to one winning destination on the scoreboard by the end of the evening.
The Badgers stopped the Plattsmouth boys 63-49 in a game that featured many twists and turns. PHS went toe to toe with the Badgers for the first quarter and stayed within 51-47 with 4:15 to play. Bennington sank enough free throws down the stretch to pull away.
Teams spent three minutes preparing to play at the high school gym before they had to move to Plattsmouth Community Middle School. A player’s dunk during warmups caused a basketball hoop, backboard and pole to become dislodged from their normal positions. They became tilted from the ceiling at an unplayable angle.
High school and middle school officials assessed the situation and decided to move the game to the middle school gym. They rushed over to PCMS to set up bleachers and place basketball hoops and backboards in their proper spots. Their efforts helped the game start before 9 p.m.
Hayden Stromsodt led Plattsmouth with 18 points, nine rebounds, two blocks and one steal. Tucker Anderson generated 14 points, five rebounds, three assists and one steal, and Hunter Adkins provided five points, seven rebounds and one block.
Stockton Graham helped PHS with nine points, five assists and two rebounds. Chandler Cole posted three points and one block, Brandt Colbert grabbed four rebounds and Nolan Cherek hauled in two boards.
