PLATTSMOUTH – Plattsmouth gave a large home crowd many reasons to cheer Friday night during the football team’s final game of the year.
The Blue Devils claimed a 35-14 victory over Omaha Gross in the season finale. Plattsmouth dominated the ground game against the Cougars. Connor Pohlmeier rushed for three touchdowns and Tucker Anderson added one touchdown run and a scoring pass.
Plattsmouth (3-6) broke a scoreless tie against Omaha Gross (2-7) in the second quarter. PHS erupted for 21 points with a mixture of running and passing plays.
Pohlmeier ended the team’s first drive of the period with a 9-yard touchdown run, and Andrew Rathman hauled in a 6-yard scoring pass from Anderson on the next series. Anderson made it 21-0 at halftime with a 13-yard touchdown sprint.
Omaha Gross closed the gap to 21-7 in the third quarter, but the Blue Devils preserved their lead in the final 12 minutes. Pohlmeier produced a touchdown run from the 7-yard line early in the period, and he capped the night with a 47-yard scamper down the home sideline.
