CONESTOGA – Conestoga and Elmwood-Murdock athletes will play varsity basketball games at earlier times today due to a water main break in Murray.
Village officials alerted Conestoga Public Schools administrators Friday morning that there was a water main break inside town. The break affected several parts of town during the day. The affected area included Conestoga Elementary School. The school was able to provide adequate drinking water and sanitation services for students.
Conestoga Elementary School dismissed students at 1 p.m. and Conestoga Junior-Senior High School dismissed students at 1:15 p.m. due to the water main break.
Junior varsity and varsity basketball games between Conestoga and Elmwood-Murdock were scheduled for this afternoon and evening, but school officials decided to hold only varsity games due to water concerns. Possible impacts of tonight’s forecasted winter storm also factored into the decision.
The varsity girls basketball game between Conestoga and Elmwood-Murdock will take place at 5 p.m. today at Conestoga High School. The varsity boys teams will play at 6:30 p.m. There will be no junior varsity games.
