WAHOO – Weeping Water volleyball athletes wrapped up their season Monday night with matches against a pair of opponents.
The Indians journeyed to Wahoo High School for the Subdistrict D1-1 Tournament. Fourth-seeded Weeping Water played Cornerstone Christian and Archbishop Bergan in the tournament.
Weeping Water 3, Cornerstone Christian 0
Weeping Water dominated fifth-seeded Cornerstone Christian 25-10, 25-20, 25-12 in a first-round contest. The Indians knocked home 25 kills and went 66-of-71 serving with 11 aces. WWHS also made 37 digs and 28 serve receptions during the match.
Peyton Barrett keyed Weeping Water’s scoring attack with 12 kills and three aces. She also collected a defensive double-double with ten digs and 12 serve receptions.
Lexi Ahrens finished 13-of-13 serving with three aces and added ten assists and one dig. Addi Bickford went 16-of-17 serving with two aces and generated 15 assists and three digs. Brianna Lawson tallied 13 digs and nine serve receptions, Bailee Nissen poured in six kills and Jamison Twomey produced two digs and one kill.
Grace Cave helped the Indians with five kills, four digs and four serve receptions. Reagan Aronson made three digs and went 10-of-11 serving with one ace, and Courtney Bockman knocked home one kill. Kelsi Vogler, Jessie Jordan and Abby Meeske all saw court time for the Indians.
Archbishop Bergan 3, Weeping Water 0
Top-seeded Archbishop Bergan stopped the Indians 25-11, 25-9, 25-8 in the semifinals later Monday evening. The Knights won their 28th match of the season and produced an effective scoring attack. The team went 76-of-77 serving with 11 aces and posted a .387 hitting percentage.
Nissen helped Weeping Water with four kills, two aces, one dig and five serve receptions. Barrett compiled a stat line of six kills, eight digs, two assists and 14 serve receptions, and Cave collected three kills, five digs and two serve receptions.
Lawson pitched in six digs and ten serve receptions for WWHS, and Aronson went 6-of-6 serving and made three digs and three serve receptions. Bickford posted nine assists and three digs, Ahrens ended the match with three digs and Bockman made one kill and one dig.
Vogler scooped up three digs and Twomey finished with one dig. Meeske also saw court time for the team.
Weeping Water finished its season 11-20. Ahrens and Lawson were the team’s two seniors.
