Household hazardous waste collection event, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Christensen Field west parking lot, Fremont. Residents of Fremont and Dodge County are welcome to bring their household hazardous waste to this collection site. Acceptable waste materials include: paint, paint-related materials, poisons, fertilizer, banned materials, pesticides, insecticides, fluorescent tubes, lead acid batteries and outdated or unwanted pharmaceuticals.

Prairie Piecemakers Quilt and Needlework Guild 2018 Quilt Show, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1440 E. Military Ave., Fremont. The theme is “Don’t Worry, Be Scrappy.” Admission is $5. Sandwiches and homemade pie will be served at the Scrappy Café. The guilt also will have a silent auction and a mini raffle.

Eagles Aerie membership campaign, 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Fremont Eagles Club. Dues are $40 per year. Since they are five months into the year, the membership dues will be $23.45, paying the member through May 31, 2019. During this event, the Aerie will not charge the re-enrollment or initiation fee of $13.

American Legion Post 20 chili feed, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Fremont Eagles Club. Members will have a variety of chilis. The price of $8 includes a bowl of chili with toppings, piece of cornbread and coffee (includes refills or trying a different type of chili). Cinnamon rolls will cost $1 and an extra piece of cornbread will be 50 cents. Proceeds will help the Fremont Legion Family support our veterans and other programs such as Girls and Boys State.

Halloween Campsite Decorating Contest and Trick-or-Treating, 5-7 p.m., Fremont Lakes State Recreation Area. First prize is two nights of camping and second prize is one night of camping. Oktoberfest, 5 p.m., Two Rivers Bank Arena Building, Washington County Fairgrounds, Arlington. Hosted by the Blair Rotary Club, doors to the event will open at 5 p.m. Polka music provided by Angie Kriz and the Polkatoons will begin at 5:30 p.m. There will be an encore performance by Superband at 8:30 p.m. Oktoberfest and domestic beer will be served. Food trucks will be available for guests to purchase food. Must be 21 or older to attend. Tickets are $25 and include entry to the event plus one drink ticket.
