hits to lift Polecats
SCRIBNER — Fremont native Craig Moore was 5-for-5 Wednesday night to lead the Lincoln Polecats to a 12-4 win over the Scribner Hogs in the Richard Wobken/Scribner Hogs Invitational.
Lincoln opened by scoring a pair of runs in the second inning and added three in the third. The Polecats scored two more in the fourth.
Moore, who plays at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, had RBI singles in the third and fourth innings.
Scribner scored its first run in the second inning on an RBI single by Kyle Jannsen and added three in the bottom of the third on RBI singles by Dave Dahl and Jim Mauch.
Lincoln, though, scored one in the sixth, two in the seventh and two more in the eighth.
Travis Solano and Justin Hertzel had two hits apiece for the Polecats, and Derek Adair was the winning pitcher.
Jannsen was 4-for-4 to lead the Hogs at the plate. Dahl and Mauch both added two hits.
C.B. Shockers 8, West Point 0
Brett Elam pitched a complete game and had two hits to lead the Shockers to the victory.
Council Bluffs scored one run in the fourth and fifth innings.Eric Elam had a two-run double and Chad Mefford added an RBI single in the sixth.
The Shockers scored three more runs in the seventh to end the game on the eight-run rule.
Chris Peterson led West Point with a pair of hits.
The tournament continues Saturday when the Shockers play the Polecats at 1 p.m. and Arlington plays the Omaha Merchants at 5.
