On Monday, Fremont Police arrested three juveniles following a string of stolen vehicles over the weekend.
According to Fremont Police, the department investigated seven reports of stolen vehicles between December 9th and December 11th.
On Monday Officer Smith of the department responded to a stolen vehicle complaint in the 400 block of East 5th Street on Monday at approximately 8:15 a.m. Later in the day, Officer Smith observed the car being driven in the area of Jefferson Street and Empire Avenue.
A traffic stop was conducted and two juvenile males, both 14 years old of Fremont, were arrested for theft by unlawful taking, unauthorized use of a propelled vehicle, and being minors in possession of alcohol.
In another incident, at approximately 12:30 p.m., Officer Classen of the department responded to a stolen vehicle complaint in the 80 block of south Clarkson Street.
Later the stolen car was seen in the 1200 block of North K Street and a juvenile male was observed running away from the vehicle.
The male, a 14 year old from Fremont, was apprehended and arrested for theft by unlawful taking.
The arrests came after Fremont Police investigated seven reports of stolen vehicles between December 9th and 11th.
In six of the seven incidents, the owners reported leaving keys to the car inside the car with the doors unlocked.
The Fremont Police Department encourages vehicle owners to take vehicle keys out of the car, and to lock the doors to their vehicles when the vehicles are unoccupied.
According to Fremont Police, the arrested juveniles are believed to be involved with the other reported stolen cars. The investigation is still ongoing.
