Former United States Marine Corps Reservist Sgt. Jason House recognized his employer for the support he received while he was deployed to Iraq in 2004.
House, an employee of Audio Visual Specialist, 1640 N. Bell St., presented his employer, Scott Givens, with the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Patriot Award for his sacrifices and support he and the other employees made in covering for House during his time of deployment and training for the Marine Reserve.
In recommending Audio Video Specialist, House said he has worked for the company for five years. One month after he started he was deployed to Iraq with a Marine Reserve engineer maintenance company from Omaha. He expressed gratitude for this support in requesting the award indicating the company’s flexibility in working with his schedule of drills and yearly training requirements.
In addition to receiving the Patriot Award, business owner Scott Givens signed a statement of support for the ESGR.
The ESGR encourages employees who are members of the reserve components of the military to nominate their employers for awards recognizing the support they have received during both deployments and non-deployed times. ESGR works with reservists and employers in matters dealing with the rights of both the employer and employee service member.
