A Fremont man was cited for being in possession of marijuana after Fremont Police officers noticed an unattended vehicle located in the street near the 1600 block of North Main Street, Fremont Police reported.
Police said that the stalled vehicle was unoccupied and had its gas cap open, indicating the driver probably ran out of gas. Peering inside of the vehicle, officers noticed sitting on the front passenger seat a plastic baggie containing a green leafy substance that appeared to be marijuana.
Officers attempted to contact the registered owner of the vehicle and were unsuccessful, and because the vehicle was obstructing a roadway, officers arranged to have it towed.
Daniel J. Schram, 24, arrived at the scene before the vehicle was towed and took responsibility for the car, marijuana and drug paraphernalia found inside, police said. Schram was cited and released after being charged with being in possession of marijuana less than an ounce and for being in possession of drug paraphernalia.
