Nebraska State Patrol troopers arrested two people after finding 189 pounds of marijuana in a traffic stop on Interstate 80 in Sarpy County on Thursday morning.

Patrol spokesman Cody Thomas said at about 8:20 a.m., a trooper stopped a 2012 Dodge Durango near Gretna for following too closely and smelled marijuana coming from inside the SUV.

A search turned up 189 pounds of marijuana in heat-sealed packages hidden under a blanket in the cargo area. Thomas said the marijuana had an estimated street value of $750,000.

Troopers arrested the driver, Herbert Vazquez, 65, of Oroville, California, and passenger, Mayira Jurado-Lopez, 40, of Hanover Park, Illinois, on suspicion of possessing marijuana with intent to deliver and no drug tax stamp.
