Twenty-three Midland University students recently showed their commitment to the nursing profession.
Each year, sophomores in the Department of Nursing publicly commit to their profession during the Commitment Ceremony. This year 16 students participated in the March 10 at Sinai Lutheran Church near the Midland campus. The ceremony also included a blessing of hands as a symbol of the healing work of those in the profession.
Those who participated in the ceremony received ceremonial pin with hands and hearts to remind them of the special day.
Area students who participated in the Commitment Ceremony were: Alexandra Eggers of Tekamah, Jacklyn Friedrich and Emily Gardeman, both of Fremont, Erin Kreikemeier of Hooper and Jessica Shonka of Dodge.
Seven students were not able to attend the ceremony. They included Ashley Doherty of Waterloo and Jenny Small Franklin of Hooper.
