In an effort to familiarize residents with some of the digital resources it offers, Keene Memorial Library will host a Digital Open House on Nov. 5.
The free event is set to run from 7-8 p.m. in Keene’s large meeting room where library staff will offer one-on-one assistance to those interested in learning how to use various e-resources available at the library.
“There are resources we have at the library that can be super beneficial to a lot of people in the community. A lot of times they just don’t know how to utilize them,” said Elisa Cruz, circulation manager at Keene.
Keene’s Digital Open House is the second such event hosted by the library in the past month as the staff looks to keep the local community abreast of the variety of online services it offers.
Attendees of the Digital Open House will be able to learn how to use Keene’s e-resources, e-books, and popular technologies like tablets.
“We will have laptops and iPads set up for people who want a rundown on how to use tablets and those types of technology as well,” Cruz said.
Attendees can also learn how to create resumes and learn how to apply for jobs online, as well as how to get a library card and other library-related queries. Assistance will be provided in both English and Spanish.
“We get a lot of people coming in who struggle with certain things, even just being able to create an e-mail account,” Cruz said. “But we have so many different resources that people can use and are really just here to help.”Refreshments will also be provided during the open house.
