When preparing for a fundraiser it’s vital for an organization to think critically about what its target market will enjoy.
So when Stacy Heatherly started brainstorming during early summer 2016 about possible options for a summer 2017 fundraiser, she thought about what the people she interacts with enjoy.
Many, she already knew, enjoy swinging the golf club from time to time. Many also have children who enjoy swimming during the hot summer months. So why not host a fundraiser that gives people the option to hit golf balls and relax at the swimming pool?
Earlier this week, The Digg Site Productions, a 501©3 non-profit documentary film-making organization announced that it’s hosting the 2017 Digg Site Golf Event and Pool Social Fundraiser July 24 at Fremont Golf Club.
The golf tournament, a four-person scramble, costs $75 per-person with the cost including a golf cart, range balls and dinner following play.

Check in for the tournament begins at 10:30 a.m. and golfers will tee-off at 11:45.
From 2 p.m. through 4:30, those not playing golf are encouraged to take part in the Pool Social Fundraiser. The event, which costs $25, has many family-friendly events and activities, including: swimming, kids’ swag, inflatable Ninja Warrior course, an inside area for socialization, poolside music and a dinner.
“We started planning this in June of last year, and we were trying to figure out what would be a fun fundraising event that would attract a variety of different people,” said Heatherly, president of the Digg Site Productions and commissioner of the Eastern Nebraska Film Office. “And that is why we combined the golf, social pool event and pool activities.”
Fundraiser proceeds will go to a variety of different areas within the company. Heatherly said a portion of the funds go toward funding for the annual film camps The Digg Site hosts, as well as paying educators, purchasing equipment, funding up-start costs for a new phone application being made and additional operating expenses.
“This is an area that’s always hard to get grants for,” Heatherly said of operating expenses.
In attendance will be Matt Iseman and Matt Rogers. Rogers was on Season 3 of American Idol and Iseman is the current host of NBC’s “American Ninja Warrior.” He always was the winner of this past years “Celebrity Apprentice.”
Heatherly said that she is excited for a full day of fun with the many people who support her organization.
“I am really excited because we incorporate so many local businesses in our organization, and this year we have a lot of new sponsors and I’m really excited about that,” she said. “We are doing some really fun, unique things with our sponsors at each hole — fun events planned for many of the holes in regard to our sponsors. It will just be a really fun event for everyone involved.”
