Alyce J. Hartung, 83 years, of Fremont passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at Dunklau Gardens in Fremont. She was born July 14, 1935, in Dodge County, Nebraska, to Carson and Emma (Schole) Rebbe.
Alyce graduated in 1953 from Hooper High School. She married Stanley Hartung on June 30, 1953, at Zion Lutheran Church at Hooper. The couple farmed near Hooper from 1956 to 1999, when they moved to Fremont. Stanley died Aug. 31, 2004. Alyce did housekeeping and worked alongside her husband as sexton at Salem Lutheran Church.
She was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church at Hooper and a present member of Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont, since 1956. She taught Sunday school and was a volunteer for the Fremont Area Medical Center Auxiliary.
Alyce is survived by sisters-in-law, Betty Hartung of Fremont and Pam Rebbe of Hooper; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Ron Rebbe; brothers-in-law, Herold Krohn, Wallace Hartung and Kermit Hartung; and sister-in-law, Elva Krohn.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 8, at Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont. Vicar Shari Schweldhelm will officiate. Visitation on Friday at church 1 hour prior to service. Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.
