Charlotte A. Mehrens, age 76, of Ames passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, at Pathfinder Place in Fremont. She was born Aug. 19, 1942, in Denver to Joseph and Adella (Koci) Dlouhy.
Charlotte spent the majority of her life in Fremont and was a 1959 graduate of Elkhorn High School. She married Larry Mehrens on July 30, 1989, in Fremont.
She worked at the former Campbell Soup Company in Fremont. She worked other jobs before retiring at the age of 55. She and Larry spent their winters in Texas for many years.
Charlotte was a member of the Fremont Coin Club and was an antique collector. She also collected pink flamingos and loved spending time traveling, reading, and going to casinos.
Survivors include her husband, Larry of Ames; sons, Wayne (Donna) Crist of Norfolk; daughters, Debbie Crist (husband, Koby Humphus) of Omaha and Barb Crist (husband, Brad Scott) of Fremont; stepsons, Kerry (Kim) Mehrens of California and Todd Mehrens of Texas; stepdaughter, Brenda Hayes of Texas; and grandchildren, Sara, Caitlyn, and Morgan Crist, Courtney Petersen, Timothy and Christopher Mehrens, and Clayton Score; and four great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents and sister, Diana Dlouhy.
The memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Memorial visitation with the family receiving friends will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Moser’s in Fremont.
