FREMONT — Clifford L. Barrick, 71 years, of Fremont died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his family. Clifford was born Sept. 8, 1946, in Omaha to Eileen (Seagle) Fitl and Jerry Barrick, but raised by his grandparents, George and Edith Seagle in Fremont. He went to Job Corps in 1965. He was employed at Western Electric in 1967 and then retired from Avaya in 2002. He then worked at Tek Services for two years, Silver Hawk Security for two years and 3M for three years.
Clifford married Mary Lu Siercks on Dec. 9, 1978, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles 200 in Fremont. He enjoyed Nebraska Football and was probably their biggest fan. He also enjoyed playing chess, camping, bowling and most of all spending time with his family and friends.
Clifford is survived by his wife, Mary Lu; daughters, Ilene (Robert Masters) Barrick of Lincoln, Angela Cates (Doug Schneckloth) of Seward, Shindel (Mark) Thomsen and Lukmilla (Jaimie) Herrera, all of Fremont; sons, Tracy Brown (Tammy Dahir) of Cedar Bluffs and Calvin (Donna) Brown of Tonopah, Arizona; grandson, Jay Herrera of Fremont, who he was in the process of raising; and 22 other grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, who always brightened his days; sisters, Cyndi Fitl of Lincoln, Mary Ann Kreger of Kansas City, Missouri, and Christina Barrick of Burlington, Colorado; brother, Mike Fitl of Ceresco; and brother-in-law, Jerry Parks of Rushville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; daughter, Sherri Barrick; sister, Christine Parks; and best friend, Ray Clayton.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. The Rev. Dan Heuer will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation on Friday at church one hour prior to service. Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. Memorials may be directed to the family for a charity yet to be determined.
