Geraldine “Gerrie” Phillips, 91, of Fremont died early Tuesday morning, Feb. 14, 2017, at Nye Pointe in Fremont.
Gerrie was born Sept. 7, 1925, in Sparta, N.C., to Walter and Mayme (Fender) Fowlkes. Her family came to Nebraska when she was in her early childhood. She attended school in Madison and graduated from high school in Newman Grove in 1942.
She was married in Fremont in 1946 to Wesley Phillips and she has been a Fremont resident since that time. Before her marriage she worked at the Mead Ordnance Plant. Later, she worked for Gambles, and Campbell Soup Co. (formerly Swanson Foods) for 28 years.
She was a former member of the Eagles Auxiliary, and she enjoyed playing cards with friends.
Her husband Wesley died in August of 1982. Also preceding her was a brother, Pete, and sisters, Mable and Beulah.
Survivors include: two daughters, Sharon (and husband, Gale) Phinney of Fremont and Denise (and husband, Victor) Hartford of Fremont; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The private family service will be held at Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont with the committal in Memorial Cemetery.
