John P. LaMar, age 77, of Fremont passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family.
John was born June 28, 1941, to John and Norma (Sheridan) LaMar in St. Joseph, Missouri. He grew up in St. Joseph. In 1959, he moved to Kansas, City, Missouri. On Feb. 27, 1965, John married Henriette M. “Bo” Roesle in St. Joseph, Missouri. The couple lived in Indianapolis, Indiana, for a short time until moving to Fremont in 1969.
Early in his career, John worked as a jeweler for Zales. He also worked for b. ruben, Region 5/6 Emergency Management and was a reserve deputy for Dodge County. John was an active volunteer in the community as a past president of Dodge county REACT. In addition, he was active as a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church as a member of the parish council, finance committee and Knights of Columbus. He was a past president of the Bergan Booster Club.
John enjoyed activities with his children and grandchildren. He loved to watch the Bergan Knights, Huskers, and Kansas City Chiefs.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Bo; daughter, Andrea LaMar; sons, John (Amber) LaMar Jr. and Tony (Amy) LaMar; and grandchildren, Beau Johnson, Haylea, Addisyn, Zoey and Elliot LaMar.
The memorial Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont. The Rev. Father Walter Nolte will officiate. Memorial visitation will be Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a Rosary starting at 7 p.m., all at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Fremont.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Fremont Bergan Fine Arts Department.
