Sun Ye Krohn, 79, of Fremont died Monday, March 4, 2019, at Methodist Fremont Health.
She was born to Pong Chong and Pon Ye Yi in Kobe City, Japan, on April 10, 1939. She left for Korea with her mother and sister in 1948. Later in Korea, she met Duane Krohn who was serving with the U.S. Army in Korea.
On Sept. 18, 1969, she and Duane were married at the U.S. Embassy in Korea and later they had another ceremony at the Army base chapel, Camp Long, in Wonju, Korea.
They left Korea for Fort Knox, Kentucky, in 1970, and then Duane received orders to go to Vietnam. While Duane was gone, Sun Ye lived with Duane's parents. Duane was discharged from the Army and came home in 1972 and Fremont has been their home since that time. Duane began his career with the Post Office in Fremont and Sun Ye was a stay-at-home mom, raising their two sons.
Her survivors are her husband Duane; son, Michael Krohn, and his children, Audrina and Maddox, son Roger (Jennifer) Krohn, and their daughter, Kailyn, all of Las Vegas, Nevada. She is also survived by a brother. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 8, at Trinity Lutheran Church. The committal will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Visitation at the Ludvigsen Mortuary will be on Thursday, 3 to 8 p.m., with the family receiving friends 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church.
