A U.S. Air Force plane made an emergency landing at the Lincoln Airport on Thursday evening after one of its engines caught fire midflight.
Lincoln Fire and Rescue Battalion Chief Dave Engler said six people were on board and used a slide to evacuate safely after the plane landed shortly after 7 p.m. The fire was extinguished within about 15 minutes.

The Air Force released a statement that said the plane is part of the 522nd Air Control Wing, which is based at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City. The fire cause and the damage it caused are being investigated.
