COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – Avery Blahauvietz of Midland University earned a pair of runner-up finishes recently at the Iowa Western Spring Classic.

Blahauvietz was second in the women's shot put (36-4 1/4) and also the hammer throw. She recorded her personal best in the latter event with a toss of 152-5 -- third-best in school history.

Teammate Abby Stogdill was fourth in the shot put (35-8 1/2).

Fremont native Nathan Houser won the men's discus (154-8) and hammer throw (197-6).

Reid Kirlin was fifth in the discus (140-3) and third in the hammer (171-3). The latter is a personal best and ranks third in MU history.

The Warriors will compete Thursday in the Concordia Outdoor Invitational in Seward.
