The Midland University men’s and women’s bowling teams opened up the 2018-19 season last weekend at the 48th Annual Midwest Collegiate Championships.

The Lady Warriors placed sixth out of 32 teams while the men’s team finished seventh out of 40 teams in the championship events. Lindenwood University won the women’s tournament while McKendree earned the men's title.

On the women’s side, MU junior Candice Goldfinch placed 13th with a 194 average in six individual games. She had a high game of 222.. Sophomore Brittney Schnicke also had a good outing, finishing in a tie for 35th place out of more than 200 bowlers.

Midland’s highest individual men’s individual was senior Zach Karr in 19th place. The Fremont native averaged a 219.5 over six games, including a high game of 258. Junior Morgan Moore finished 28th, averaging 214.8.

Midland will compete Oct. 13-14 in the Sandhills Classic in Lincoln.
