Rachel Thigpen recorded her eighth shutout of the season Wednesday night as 21st-ranked Midland University downed Morningside 1-0 at Heedum Field.

"Tonight was a good win against a very tricky Morningside team," Midland coach Greg Jarosik said. "You always know they will be ready tactically and they were again tonight. Hannah Stewart was a best in the midfield for us and our backs were once again solid allowing just one shot all night long."

The lone goal came in the 57th minute. Nayeli Rodriguez pushed the ball past the Morningside defense. Her left-footed shot from 25 yards out found the top right corner of the goal.

The win improves Midland to 9-1-1 on the year, including 6-0-1 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference. The Mustangs fall to 6-6-1 overall, including 4-3 in the league.

The Lady Warriors play Mount Marty at 5:30 Saturday night in Yankton, S.D.
