MADISON, S.D. – Fremont native Ryan Williams had 30 points to spark Midland University to an 89-81 comeback win at Dakota State on Wednesday night.
Williams, a 6-foot-7 sophomore, hit 10 of 17 shots from the field, including 6 of 11 from 3-point land to lead the Warriors. Chase Parsons came off the bench to score 25 and Marti Fonolla contributed 13.
The Warriors, who trailed 48-37 at halftime, improve to 4-0 while Dakota State falls to 3-3.
Guard TK Dixson had nine points and eight assists for MU.
“I thought our guys did a good job coming back to get the win tonight,” Midland coach Oliver Drake said. “We’re really proud of the way our guys found a way. We had guys step up when we needed them. This was a gritty win for our program.”
Justin Folkers had 25 points and Maurice Arrington added 20 for Dakota State.
The Warriors have their home opener at 7 Friday night against Grand View. The Warriors defeated the Vikings 88-78 to open the season earlier this month in Des Moines, Iowa.
