A late scoring run by Lincoln Southwest spelled trouble for the Fremont High boys basketball team on Friday night.

The Tigers built a 33-26 lead early in the fourth quarter at Al Bahe Gymnasium before being outscored by the Silver Hawks 15-4 the remainder of the contest to fall 41-37.

Fremont led 29-26 heading into the final quarter. A steal and basket by Austin Callahan followed by a Caden Curry bucket extended the Tigers’ lead to seven points.

LSW then scored nine straight points to lead 35-33. A basket by Fremont’s Aidan Queen tied the score at 37-all. The Silver Hawks hit 4 of 6 free throws down the stretch to seal the game.

Lincoln Southwest led the entire first quarter as five different Silver Hawks scored. TaeVyn Grixby’s putback gave LSW a 14-11 lead. Triston Keeney scored six of his team-high 10 points for the Tigers in the first eight minutes.

Consecutive baskets by Austin Callahan, Dillon Dix and Curry gave FHS a 20-16 lead late in the second quarter. The Tigers put together a 7-0 scoring run in the third quarter to go up 29-22.

LSW (6-7) owned a 19-8 advantage the rest of the game.

Dix and Curry finished with eight and seven points, respectively for FHS.

Grixby paced Lincoln Southwest with 11 points. Frazzie Wynn III had eight points while Caden McCormack added seven. The Silver Hawks’ leading scorer this season – 6-foot-9 Mayuom Buom – was held to just two points.

Fremont, 2-9, will play at Omaha Bryan on Saturday.
