LINCOLN — Brody Sintek’s First State Bank Seniors teammates gave him all the run support he needed in the first inning Wednesday night against Lincoln East.
The veteran pitcher did the rest.
First State scored all of its runs in the opening inning and went on to defeat East 6-1 at Densmore Field.
“We jumped on them early tonight,” FSB coach Jeff Hayden said. “We played good defense and we pitched it really well.”
Sintek scattered five hits, walked one and struck out 11 n throwing a complete game. The only run East scored was unearned.
“I was very pleased with Brody tonight,” Hayden said. “Originally we were going to cap his pitches tonight, but in what was supposed to be his last inning he struck out the side. His velocity was still there and I felt it was important to keep him in a groove so we extended and he was dominate in the final three innings.”
Dylan Kucera had a double and a single to lead the FSB offensive attack. Austin Callahan, Dillon Dix and Logan Sacco also had two hits each. Mitchell Glause had a single and one RBI. Eli Herink, Kucera, Reed Fitzke, Dix and Sacco drove in one run apiece.
The Seniors have now won six games in a row to improve to 10-3 overall.
