Ameer Abdullah wasn't jobless for long.
The former Nebraska running back was claimed off waivers by the Minnesota Vikings one day after being released by the Detroit Lions, according to an ESPN report.
So now Abdullah, 25, will not only play for a playoff contender but also for an NFC North Division rival of the team that drafted him in 2015 and then cut him this week.
Abdullah has spent most of the season on the Lions' inactive list as a reserve backfield option.
He has rushed for 1,251 yards (3.8 per carry) and six touchdowns in his four-year NFL career. Detroit cut him midway through the final year of the rookie contract he signed after being selected in the second round of the draft.
