Stanford vs. Nebraska, 12.15

Nebraska’s Mikaela Foecke (2) attempts a kill against Stanford’s Tami Alade (6) and Kathryn Plummer in the first set of the NCAA championship match on Dec. 15 at the Target Center in Minneapolis.

Former Nebraska volleyball player Mikaela Foecke is still in contention to play for the United States women’s national volleyball team during the Volleyball Nations League tournament this summer.

Team USA trimmed its roster from 30 players to 25 on Monday, and Foecke was one the eight players chosen at the outside hitter position. From the 25-player roster, 14 will be chosen to be on the team for each week of the six-week tournament. Former Huskers Jordan Larson and Kelsey Robinson also are on the roster. Former Nebraska players Justine Wong-Orantes and Kadie Rolfzen were cut from the original 30-player group.

On the 25-player roster, there are eight outside hitters, seven middle blockers, four opposite hitters, four setters and two liberos. Robinson has previously played libero for Team USA, but is listed at outside hitter.

Team USA will play three matches in Lincoln as part of the Volleyball Nations League on June 4-6 at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
