In some ways, it all started with a walk-off hole-in-one for Ryan Rogers.

The Millard West graduate rode the momentum from his semifinal win into a 4 and 3 win over Papillion-La Vista graduate Alex Zillig in Thursday's Nebraska Junior Match Play Championship final York Country Club.

Rogers had a walk-off hole-in-one on No. 16 in his semifinal win on Wednesday to advance to Thursday's final.

After three all-square holes to start the final, Zillig took a brief lead after a par on No. 4 to counter a Rogers bogey. But Rogers bounced back with wins on Nos. 6, 7 and 8 with pars to take a 2 up lead through nine.

Rogers then used a par to win No. 10 and the two halved Nos. 12-14, with both nailing birdies on the par-3 No. 14. Zillig made bogey on No. 15 after finding the right trees off the tee, and Rogers' two-putt par gave him the match and his first match play title.

Zillig also had three different tough-luck putts lip out across Nos. 11 and 13.
