Lincoln Goodwill celebrated another exciting Neighborhood Challenge season. This year, 9,250 pounds of donated goods were collected from six different neighborhood associations.
Every year, Goodwill’s Neighborhood Challenge gives Lincoln neighborhood associations the opportunity to donate their gently used items after garage sales or clean-up events. The top associations that donate more than 2,000 pounds win a cash prize to help fund a neighborhood-improvement project of their choice. This year’s first-place winner was the Highlands Neighborhood Association with 4,416 pounds of donations collected. Wellington Greens Neighborhood Association donated 2,776 pounds of goods and earned second place.
Goodwill would like to thank the ECCO, Highlands, Arnold Heights, Wellington Greens, Southwood, and Eastridge neighborhood associations for their participation in this year’s Neighborhood Challenge.
The annual Neighborhood Challenge is just one way Lincoln Goodwill strives to fulfill its mission: “Willing workers employed and community resources maximized.” Goodwill uses the sale of donated items to help local job seekers overcome barriers to employment and find meaningful work. In 2025, Lincoln Goodwill provided career services to more than 6,300 individuals in Southeast Nebraska. Additionally, 2.3 million pounds total of recyclable donations were diverted from local landfills.
